ABOUT US

Saint Joseph's College Foundation Limited, a Hong Kong registered charitable organization, was established by the Old Boys in late 2004 to mark the 130th Anniversary of the College. The purpose of its formation was to raise funds required by both St. Joseph's College and St. Joseph's Primary School in the areas of school improvement, recruitment of teachers, and the financing of extra-curriculum activities.

The Board of Trustees is chaired by distinguished old boy Dr Hon Sir David LI Kwok-po, GBM, GBS, JP along with a group of very loyal and dedicated old boys from different sectors of society. Other prominent old boy trustees include Executive Councillor Hon Ronald ARCULLI, GBM, GBS, JP and Legislative Councillors Dr Hon LEONG Che-hung, GBM, GBS, JP and OBA past president Hon Jeffrey LAM Kin-fung, GBS, JP.

The Foundation completed its first major project, the School Improvement Project Phase 1, by raising over 12 million in 18 months. The new facilities - the Information and Technology Learning Centre, an Art Room and staff rooms were officially opened in August 2007. Trustee Edward Ho, Group Chairman of Wong Tung and Partners, one of the largest architectural firms in Hong Kong, played a significant role in the project and Mr. Ho was widely known as the One Dollar Man for the One Hong Kong Dollar architectural fee he charged SJC. For his contribution, Mr. Ho was presented with the first SJC Labore et Virtute Award ever bestowed upon a Josephian.

The new annex block now stands as the only major addition to the SJC Campus built in 1964. It was appropriately named the Agabeg Annex in memory of an old boy, the late Mr. Godfrey Agabeg, who left SJC in 1927 and bequeathed in his will HK$3 million to the Foundation. Other major old boy benefactors who contributed substantially include Sir Q. W. Lee, Dr. Peter Lee and the late Dr. Simon Lee and Mr. William Doo.

The Foundation is constantly looking at all areas to improve the teaching and learning capacity of St. Joseph's College to ensure both SJC and SJPS will have adequate teaching resources to keep pace with the rapidly changing curriculum and modern advance in science and technology.

2015 marks the 140th Annivesiary of St. Joesph's College. On this momentous occasion, the college will launch the 140th Anniversary Endowment Fund in order to sustain and improve the college's position as a top tier secondary school in Hong Kong.

The goal is to raise HK$200 million in five years. With this amount and prudent investing, we hope to generate a healthy annual return (in the region of HK$5-10million) with which the school can start making immediate improvements. It has been agreed that naming rights will be available for various parts of the school for a defined period, as a token of our recognition.
